Meet Sara Lusvardi

Meet Sara Lusvardi

Sara Lusvardi’s background is in textile design, she studied for her degree at Winchester school of Art then went off to Italy to work for a silk printing company in Como and stayed for 6 years.

After working briefly for an English printers she headed off to California with her family and worked in the design team for a menswear company for 5 years . After making the hard decision to leave California she then returned to the UK and worked freelance from her home in North Yorkshire designing ladies scarves and neck wear.

Sara now works in a primary school and has set up her business teaching art classes and workshops to both children and adults.

Her applique collage pictures use a mixture of vintage fabric, lace, buttons, beads and embroidery. Her passion for colour, textures and detail show through in her work. The odd button, stamp or tiny illustration all find a place in her pieces.

The workshop to be held at Ripping Yarns is a day of creative well being, starting with a treasure trove of fabrics, beads, handmade papers and ribbons to explore . It will be a friendly calm slow-stitching experience, hopefully where you can be inspired by Sara’s original pieces and all the materials around you. No experience is required and all materials are supplied ( as well as cups of tea and biscuits! )

Sara will be with us again on Saturday 15th January.
