Learn to knit socks (3 sessions)

Come along and learn to knit socks. By the end of the third session, you will have completed a 6ply sock (and maybe be on the way with second sock). You will learn how to  knit a heel flap, turn the heel, pick up the gusset and shape the toes before finishing off with Kitchener stitch.

In the first week, we will cast on and start to knit the sock from the top down.  Week two will focus on the heel flap, turning the heel and picking up stitches for the instep. In the final session we will complete the sock by shaping and grafting the toes.

(Some knitting between sessions will be needed)

A basic knowledge of how to do knit and purl stitches is necessary.

Please bring a set of 3:00mm double pointed needles and if you wish to try using a mini circular, you will also need a 3:0mm x 25cm mini circular needle, all of which can be purchased on the day.

  • 1:15pm - 3:30 pm
  • Cost: £45 (Cost includes a ball of 6ply sock yarn which is enough for a pair of adult socks)
  • Requirements: Please see description above.

Tea/Coffee & Biscuits are provided
